Frequently asked questions

Q Who can I contact if I have questions about a specific protocol?
A Under About us you'll find Technical Advisors to contact for specific protocols. We ask that you contact these individuals rather than the Affiliate Scientist. If the Technical Advisors can not answer your questions, then they will contact the Affiliate Scientist on your behalf.

Q Who can I contact if I am having trouble with any of the website?
A Try any of the Technical Advisors who you will find listed under About us.

Q How do I register with GLOBE?
A At present, doing GLOBE requires training in the GLOBE protocols. GLOBE International is in the process of offering self-training options. Until that option is available, training can be received at scheduled training workshops, or by organizing a group for training along with financial support and contacting one of the technical advisors.

Q What is the relationship between GLOBE International and GLOBE Canada?
A GLOBE International operates out of Boulder, Colorado with leading support from NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), NSF (National Science Foundation), UCAR (University Corporation for Atmospheric Research), and Colorado State University. GLOBE Canada is represented by this website and individually by the many teachers and students who do GLOBE across Canada. GLOBE Canada participants develop the program locally and regionally.

Q I'm having trouble inputting my cloud data.
A For the cloud protocol you need a GLOBE International password. These are obtained by attending training workshops. GLOBE International is also in the process of offering self-training options sometime in the future.

Q How can I attend a training workshop?
A Upcoming training workshops will be posted on the website. Training workshops can also be requested if in a certain locale there are many teachers interested and the group has financial support for holding a workshop. For more info on workshops, contact a Technical Advisor listed under About us.

Q How much does the equipment cost?
A Costs vary with the specific protocols and the different measurements within each.

Q Is it okay to copy the protocols?
A All text can be downloaded and copied. If the material is not substantially altered appropriate credit should be given, i.e. GLOBE Canada, or The GLOBE Program.
